Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Student (2012)
"In my time as an intern at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention, I worked under the mentorship of Dr. Aditya Belwadi primarily on the Rollover Project which seeks to determine the sources and risk of injury sustained by children in motor vehicle rollover crashes. My focus with the project was to aid in the development of finite element models using Hypermesh and running computer simulations through LS-DYNA of frontal, offset, and rollover crash scenarios, including some with child occupant models embedded. As a rising senior, I am currently a Mechanical Engineering major at the University of Delaware with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. I recently began an internship at DuPont Company where I will perform experimental testing and finite element modeling of composite materials. Following graduate school for my MS in Mechanical Engineering, I plan to pursue a career in the fields of mechanical engineering and medicine. I am so grateful for my research experience at CIRP, which provided me with valuable career experience and honed my desire to initiate a positive change in medical science."
